08/26/08 - Greetings from Los Angeles:

Saturday, September 6th at The Cinema Bar in Culver City with Bill Jackson from Australia, and Rich McCulley
Saturday, September 27th - A Farewell to LA - with Dan Janisch
3967 Sepulveda Blvd., Culver City - No Cover - music starts at 9:00pmIn October I will be relocating to Music City - I can't wait...
Thanks to those who came out to The Echo on April 27th here's some video from the gig
"14" is a collection of songs that I recorded earlier this year on my old cassette four track.
It all came together fairly quickly and I'm happy with results.
In early October the song Pony Blues from the CD Red Eyed and Restless got played on
Chris Morris' radio show, Watusi Rodeo on Indie 103.1 here in LA. It's a great radio show,
broadcast on Sundays from 9am to 11pm - it can also be listened to over the web at www.indie103.1.
The music he plays is a wide range of roots music - from country, blues, to rockabilly and
garage rock, folk, and live in the sudio guests from time to time. Chris Morris has also written
for several different music papers over the years and has a great way with words, both written
and spoken. When I've run into him around town at various shows he's been warm and
welcoming. Since I'm a huge fan of music and he's very knowledgeable of music of all sorts,
I'll talk to him about what's going on in the music world. So thanks Chris for the airplay and I
look forward to the next Sunday show. Thanks to Luke, Micah, and Willie Nelson for letting share the stage at the Pala Casino. It was
a great experience - a little surreal - but fun.![]()
Red Eyed and Restless has gotten some great reviews which are posted further down the page.
The CD will soon be played on several different European radio shows which is really great
news. Soon plans will start for a tour for next year - maybe Europe will be a possibility.
CD's will be available at all shows, also through CD Baby, and Amoeba Records on
Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. The 2003 CD Down All These Miles also has received good reviews and has been played on
European radio also.
Thanks for stopping by,
Jeremiah

Reviews & Press JEREMIAH SAMMARTANO ****** (translated from French) Red Eyed & Restless Bull Stud Records This young California man with the allure of a south-american Indian (his origins?) has been
working hard since 1990, from bars to dives, from encounters to experiences, and who has all
the same made 3 discs, arrives suddenly with an original album, excessively exciting and even
a little disturbing. Between minimalist country ballad, alternate rock and tortured blues, with a
caressing or sliding guitar, acoustic or plugged in, the songwriter Jeremiah Samartano, who
goes simply by his first name, practices a music pure, whose authenticity must have it's origins
in his long years of wandering. His music, punk and traditional, coming out of nowhere if not
far-away lands, is a sort of cross over whose references are at the same time from some found-
ing fathers of the blues (Charley Patton, Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf for example) but also
from another sphere, more alternative and rock: Paul Westerberg, ex-guitarist of the disbanded
Replacements, and most of all a band of musicians based in Arizona at Cave Creek. In spite of all this, the music remains rather faithful to the tradition of Delta Blues and this
too-short (for me) album, recorded live in the studio with the bassist and producer (of this cd)
Dale Warner, and drummer Jimmy Paxton, captures perfectly the spirit (wit/intelligence) of
Jeremiah and his music. The singing is raw, mocking, the guitars rough, and the sound crude. It's magical and spellbinding, the type of thing that makes you vibrate... This artist has his sentiments "a fleur de peau" (note from fran: this means he is very sensitive,
but I can't think of an idiomatic phrase in English to translate it), the talent to write, the truth at
the end of his guitar and the sincerity of a real music. MAGIC!! His objective from here forward: come to do a tour in Europe. - Francis Rateau Programme 'Hot Time' www.couleursfm.com Le Blues Café http://lebluescafe.free.fr Collectif des Radios Blues www.radiosblues.com Magazine Blues&Co www.blues-n-co.org Magazine Crossroads www.banditscompany.com http://www.spacejunkies.net/wednesdays_column1.html MUSIC COLUMN: "My Favorite Artists Of The Month" Part 2 By: Wednesday Elektra Well, as originally posted in Space Junkies Magazine Volume 3, Issue 3 (SJM #27) here is a continuation
from "my favorite artists of the month" column, except this time I'll talk about some independent artists
that have caught my attention over the past few months. Most notably they are T3CHN0PH0B1A, Dope
Stars Inc., Kai Blackwood, and Jeremiah & The Red Eyes. Jeremiah & The Red Eyes, I think I enjoy and appreciate this artist more, because they're different. Jeremiah,
doesn't fit into my stereotypical music collection of industrial, digital hardcore, electronics, heavy metal,
hard rock, etc. in fact he's pretty much the complete opposite! I don't think there's one loud, harsh, electronic
sound on his entire album ("Red Eyed & Restless"). I think every once in awhile you need an artist and
album like this to come along, not only to break up your bad listening habits, but also to shed some light
on other undiscovered genres of music! Well, that wraps up this months column, I'm sure in the future I'll have tons more independent artists to talk
about. We are planning on bringing back our "Spotlight Band" section as well as starting a whole new
"Feature" column section. So you will definitely be reading lots more about underground/independent
musicians (and others) in the near future! JEREMIAH AND THE RED EYES "Red Eyed & Restless" jeremiah125@hotmail.com I don't know what it is about this album that I just love, I haven't been able to put it to rest since I stuck it in
my CD player a few weeks ago! The music is like a traveling country rock/blues style, but it has a sound
reminiscent of bands like the Byrds, CCR, Gordon Lightfoot and a little bit of Elvis - that ballad versus
country rock type of sound. All the songs have this really catchy strumming guitar and a nice floor tapping
beat that you can "jive" to. There's a few cover tracks on here, but you barely notice that they're covers since
they blend in so well with the rest of the album. I really enjoyed this album, it not only opened my eyes to
a sound of music I haven't listened to for years, but also breathed fresh new life into my already exhausted
CD play list! I think the only thing that I didn't like was that there were only 9 tracks on the album, I would
have been happier with maybe 20 or so. Maybe JEREMIAH's next album will fill me up with an unlimited
amount of rocking great music, I'll definitely be waiting for it. This is the music
you love if you have any taste at all. Great blues and traditional roots rock, harkening back to the originators
of the style, this is an excellent disc. I can easily imagine sitting down in a dark bar with these guys playing
on the back deck somewhere. Excellent. (MK)
IMPACT press Jeremiah: Down All These Miles Reviewed by Alan Moore Down All These Miles is the most recent home-recorded solo effort from the prolific Jeremiah Sammartano.
This lo-fi, mellow album is soaking wet with the blues, driven by Jeremiah's heartfelt vocals and raw guitar
work. This album has the vibe of a road trip through west Texas; desert sand, diesel fuel, and gas-station
coffee fuse into a dusty melancholy. If there's such a thing as Southwest Blues, this is it.The bottom line: For a lo-fi recording, this is a great album; just good songs performed well. If you want to
take your new $1500 stereo for a test drive, this isn't the album to pick; but if you're one of those folks who's
always complaining that today's music is too electronic and overproduced, who pines for the days of “real
music” when song and soul came before clean recordings and technological fads, you had better lay your
money down and get this album or else shut up. for the full review go to -
