Jeremiah Sammartano started playing music in the early
1990's in the Orange County coffeehouses, clubs, and bars close to his Huntington Beach home. By
1998 he was settled in Hollywood where he continued to play his music influenced by the Delta blues
of Charley Patton and Howlin' Wolf, the raw, brilliant sounds of The Replacements, the lyrical,
romantic, and often raucous sounds of The Pogues, and the genius of Tom Waits.
In the Fall of 2000 he set out on a five week coast to coast tour with friend and fellow songwriter
Eddie Elliott. They followed it up with an eleven week tour in the Spring of 2001 with even greater
success.
2002 saw the formation of a three piece band, anchored by long time friend Uncle Dale on bass. In
October of 2002, the 10 song CD, Songs From Anita, inspired by a two week visit to Denver in the
summer, was released. This was succeeded by several LA shows and a few gigs in the Phoenix, AZ.
area.
Early 2003 saw a brief but productive move to Cave Creek, AZ. Songs for the next project,
Down All These Miles - many which were written about the time in Cave Creek - were recorded
in his bedroom on, as was Songs From Anita, a digital 8-track. Down All These Miles was finished
in the Fall of 2003 followed by a small Southwest tour.
Spring of 2004 has been spent playing more shows in L.A. and Phoenix and preparing the release
of a new CD Red Eyed and Restless which was recorded in a studio with the band last August. Uncle
Dale handled the production duties and captured the live, raw sound of the band. Jeremiah and The Red
Eyes will be hitting the road this summer to promote the new CD.
